Vertically Stacked Soliton‐Like Domain Walls in Nematic Liquid Crystals

In the standard liquid crystal (LC) geometry, one generally finds a quasi-parabolic director profile in vertical direction, where directors are aligned with an applied field center of cell. contrast, using numerical energy minimization approach, we find that there multiple metastable solutions is oscillatory. At low voltages, small oscillations, which evolve into soliton-like domain walls as voltage increased. We predict thickness wall simple analytic model gives good comparison to our calculations, regime. For dual-frequency nematic LCs, occurrence this regime can be tuned by change biasing frequency. Moreover, investigate how affect optical properties LC-based devices. instance, transmittance curve shifts higher voltages introduced. This shift used create efficient tunable filter.
